Options

Gold Mining

i
Test your luck discovering Alaskan gold from Quartz Creek. Guides offer a highly interactive experience, letting visitors run a power sluice high banker or try a more traditional approach by panning for gold right in the creek. Newcomers should be warned—the seasoned Alaskan sourdough homesteaders have a way of sparking “gold fever” in first-timers, often called Chechakos, during these outings. ***Price is per person

  • Gold Mining $405.00
  • White-water rafting

    i
Visitors craving an adrenaline rush can book a whitewater rafting trip on Six Mile Creek. The journey kicks off in the town of Hope, roughly 70 miles from your cabin, where participants get geared up for a day in the canyon—navigating fast-moving water, bouncing through rocky stretches, and tackling challenging rapids. Trips typically run between about two and a half to four hours, and they’re limited to confident swimmers, with a required swim test before heading out. ***Price is per person

    • White-water rafting $290.00
    • Canoe & Float

      i
The outfitter supplies everything needed for a boating adventure—kayaks or canoes, along with fishing and camping gear—whether the trip lasts a day or several. The Swanson River network offers a chain of interconnected lakes to explore, and guides can coordinate flexible drop-off and pick-up times. Visitors might choose to paddle and camp across multiple lakes or take on a longer route, following the river for about 24 miles toward Captain Cook State Park. ***Price is determined by length.

      • Canoe & Float $0.00
      • Sea Life Tour

        i
Pick up some insight into Alaska’s coastal past while cruising through the scenic waters of Eldred Passage, where it’s common to spot wildlife like otters, whales, seabirds, and puffins. The trip includes a stop in Seldovia around early afternoon, giving you time to grab lunch and wander through the village before returning to you cabin. On the return journey, delays can happen—in a good way—if humpback whales or groups of orcas show up and turn the ride into an extended wildlife viewing experience. ***Price is per person

        • Sea Life Tour $175.00
        • Fjords National park Viewing

          i
The outfitter can set up excursions of varying lengths, giving visitors the chance to observe wildlife like otters, sea lions, seals, whales, eagles, and puffins in their natural surroundings. While longer trips allow for a more in-depth experience, even shorter outings offer plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery and encounter local wildlife. ***Pricing determined by length of cruise.

            Description

Plan for cooler weather, especially when you’ll be fishing from the boats on the water. The boats typically head out early in the morning while temperatures are significantly cooler. It’s always a good idea to layer your clothing, so you can shed them as the sun comes out during those warm Alaskan afternoons. It’s not uncommon for temperatures to read in the 70s from June-August. If you have rain gear please bring it, otherwise the outfitter will provide rain equipment for guests who book a package, as well as boots or chest waders as needed on scheduled adventures.
